Registration

  • This ticket is for one dog participant, their handler & family. Select this ticket if you'd like to do the face 2 face workshop on the 22nd of August which is focused on confidence building
  • This ticket is for one dog participant, their handler & family. Select this ticket if you'd like to do the face 2 face workshop on the 9th of August which is focused on keeping focus around distractions
  • This ticket is for those whove booked onto the september course and wish to move to the intensive 1 and do the face to face workshop on the 22nd August
  • This is for clients who are already booked onto AND HAVE PAID for the September course only who want to do the face 2 face workshop on the 9th August.

This course is open to people wishing to join and who meet the eligibility criteria for our assistance dog program - please check you meet 3 of the disability criteria, you/ your child would benefit from 3 assistance tasks in public AND meet all the other criteria, go to 'services' then 'assistance dog program' to check.

Your dog must already be able to sit, lie down and come when called at home and be over 16 weeks of age to be able to join this course. In order to be able to join the assistance dog program you must first have completed this course. This course is usually an 8 week course, but  we are offering this course as an intensive course on this occasion. This course consists of: 

  • 18th August 7pm till 8pm via zoom
  • 19th August 7pm till 8pm via zoom
  • 20th August 7pm till 8pm via zoom
  • AND EITHER 9th August from 11am till 2pm 3 hour face to face workshop in Nottingham OR  22nd August from 10am till 1pm 3 hour face 2 face workshop in Nottingham.
  • virtual learning self guided theory education through our website members area including a written assignment.
 You must attend ALL sessions to be eligible to apply for the assistance dog program.


The pre-application course covers:

  • Socialisation skills - the right way to introduce your dog to new settings, objects, people & animals.
  • Building the dog's confidence around items they are fearful of.
  • Introduction to basic obedience skills -  wait for food, wait in place, leave things they are never allowed, recall around minimal distractions, target, walk on a loose lead, watch handler.
  • Handler skills
  • Training techniques - targeting, shaping, prompt and fade, chaining, capturing and connection.
  • Welfare 

We will use our observation notes (including your participation, dogs behaviour etc) and the written project to determine if we feel you and your dog are suitable for our assistance dog program. 


Cancelation policy

If you cancel within 14  days of the starting date of the course (4th August) then you will not be refunded.
