Pawsitive Squad CIC
Paws of Hope, Paws of Love,
Paws of Life
Our bespoke support packages are all provided via online conference video call software which has the benefit of enabling us to support young people across the UK within the comfort of their own home and in a format that allows young people to engage on their own terms with minimal demand. We use inclusive methods including subtitles, Prezi video and screen reader accessible resources to enable the learner to access the session with minimal disability related barriers, learners are welcome to remain off camera (with a parent facilitating communication & supervision) and use the chat box or AAC to communicate.
To record and assess practical and theory components of each bespoke package we create an e-portfolio for each learner. These include written work, records of oral questioning, observation checklists, photographic/video evidence where appropriate and any certificates gained. The only exams or real time assessments we have at Pawsitive Squad are the face to face assistance dog assessments which would only ever be a 'bolt on' service to bespoke packages.
The support packages are available as either a 1:1 provision totalling up to 1 hour or a 30 minute group session per week for three (3), thirteen (13) week long terms per year, with 1 weeks holiday per term.
Usually we will only offer 1 year of provision as 1:1, occasionally we can increase this to two years depending on circumstance. After the 1:1 provision, we may be able to offer small group provision, depending on space and young persons needs or sometimes young people will be eligible to move into the therapeutic pets or assistance dog programs.
Currently, for learners who are over 14 years old and are able to engage with small groups through zoom based learning, we have a small class of up to 5 learners. These sessions focus on setting challenges and providing feedback for young learners for whom a more self guided approach to their learning is appropriate for their needs and development.
