I experience high levels of fatigue which makes some daily living activities challenging/ impossible. 

We know how severely fatigue can impact on daily living and independence but we also know that an assistance dog can be life changing for individuals living with severe fatigue. Tasks which can help include:

  • Wake the handler
  • Assist with dressing and undressing
  • Fetching mobility aids
  • Opening cupboards and doors
  • Closing doors and cupboards
  • Holding doors so handler can pass
  • Fetch snack or drink from cupboard or fridge
  • Take rubbish to bin
  • Call for emergency help via phone or via pull cord
  • Nudge foot back onto footplate of wheelchair
  • Push buttons to open doors, lift etc
  • Lead to empty seat
  • Offer persistent alert/ motivator through nudging, paw etc if emergency and handler isn't responding fast enough (e.g fire alarm). 
  • lead to nearest exit
  • Picking up dropped items
  • Fetch named items like phone, keys etc on cue
  • Upload and load washing machine
  • Press door or lift buttons
  • Tun on & off lights
  • Pass items (e.g. shopping) off shelves and into basket or trolley
  • Pass money or card to touch on to cashier
