What are arts awards?

At Pawsitive Squad, we believe that art is in everyone and we value every person as an artist. Arts Awards offer a flexible and inclusive way for young people to enjoy being creative while working towards recognised qualifications . With our two certified Arts Award Advisers, we offer the full range of arts awards, starting with Discover, which can be completed in one day, and Explore, which can be achieved in just a couple of days and is an RQF Entry Level 3 qualification.

Arts Awards are very adaptable, so each award can be built around the art forms the young person enjoys most. This may include drawing, painting, crafts, drama, dance, music, creative writing, photography, digital art, animation, etc. This flexibility means every young person can take part in a way that suits them.

We also support young people to achieve Bronze (RQF Level 1 – similar to GCSE grades 3–1), Silver (RQF Level 2 – similar to GCSE grades 9–4) and Gold (RQF Level 3 – similar to A-Level and worth 16 UCAS points). All awards, except Discover, are official RQF (OFQUAL) regulated qualifications, giving young people the chance to earn meaningful accreditation in a way that feels positive and accessible. We offer these through longer-term projects, EOTAS support, home education, school and youth group partnerships, and alternative provision.

Eligibility

We offer Arts Award to individuals and groups of young people under 25 who face additional barriers, exclusion or challenges in daily life or education. This includes young people who are:

  • care-experienced

  • home educated

  • young carers

  • neurodivergent people

  • disabled people, including those with learning disabilities (including PMLD), physical disabilities, mental health challenges or complex health needs.

  • questioning their gender identity or transgender

  • experiencing SEMH needs

  • receiving EOTAS

  • receiving alternative provision

  • experiencing EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)

For group projects, we can offer Arts Award when at least one participant meets our eligibility above. This allows whole groups to take part together while ensuring we maintain our focus on inclusion and accessibility.

Our aim is to make Arts Award positive, welcoming and achievable for any eligible young person who wants to explore their creativity.
