All assistance dogs by law must be trained to do behaviours which make life practically easier for neurodivergent, (D)deaf and disabled people.
These trained behaviours are called 'tasks'.
Tasks must be trained and not natural things the dog automatically does like be a reassuring presence or be a motivation to leave the house.
At Pawsitive Squad all clients need to choose and train at least 3 tasks relating to being disabled/ neurodivergent/ (D) deaf which remove barriers to safety, emotional regulation, mobility or daily living which the dog would do outside of the home.
Most handlers train more than 3 tasks, you can always teach more tasks once fully trained.
It can be hard to know how training your dog as an assistance dog might help you.
